International Youth Silent Film Festival
The International Youth Silent Film Festival (IYSFF) is an initiative for students aged 20 years and under, to create a three-minute silent film - set to a musical score. The filmmakers choose from a list of ten original compositions composed for the festival.
Baycourt Community and Arts Centre are proud to take part in the International Youth Silent Film Festival. Baycourt will host the NZ Regional competition awards ceremony on Wednesday 22 November 2017.
IYSFF was founded in 2009 by Jon (JP) Palanuk, where young people can explore the art of filmmaking, as well as gain a new appreciation for the theatre organ and silent film.
Screenings of the top films from around New Zealand will be held at Baycourt at a red carpet gala event with New York’s Nathan Avakian, the festival’s composer playing the Wurlitzer live. The prize winners will be announced and the three winning films will compete in the international competition held in Portland, Oregon, USA in June 2018.
